Car with 3 months mot

I’m interested in buying a car with 3 months mot left on the car but the previous 6 years the car has passed the mot with no problem. Does anyone think it’s worth buying?

The MOT is just a test to say that a car is roadworthy on the day of the test. Anything can crop up, even well-looked after cars can fail an MOT occasionally. What advisories (if any) did it have in the last MOT?

@Fluffybull the last 3 years it had no advisories.

@Ian1892 Was it the same garage that MOT'd it each time? There are garages that'll issue an MOT and the car isn't roadworthy. If you're really wary buying used car, suggest you get it looked at by reputable independent garage/technician rather than relying on MOTs. Service history can be helpful if it has one. Also Aircon isn't checked as part of MOT and that can be expensive fix if there's something wrong or likely to wear out. Eg replacement condenser from £650.

@Ian1892 That's low mileage for the year. It's an auto so less likely to be thrashed by a boy racer than a manual 😂. It's oldish but if it's been well looked after that's not such a prob. If it's been regularly serviced sounds ok.
