My wife went to college in a place where moonshining was the leading industry. When I would drive home to Atlanta late Saturday night after a date, I would hear them coming. I was driving 45 on mountain roads, and they were flying. I usually pulled over to give them room and they honked and waved as they passed with their loads for the city.

i had a relative who was friends with Jesse James. she ran a moonshine still until she got arrested. they blamed her for the moral decline of the men in the area...

@Thrust her husband, my relative, died and left her with many kids. that is how she could raise them. but they arrested her and her community blamed her for moral decline...lol

reminds me of the rum runners in the 1920s during american prohibition where canadians would bootleg booze into the united states...had me and you been in charge of that we would have drank our profits away 🤭

@beermeplease that's how NASCAR was invented. Speed demons needed their speed on Sundays when everything else was shut down

@Lilnonames I actually thought about transporting weed from NorCal to iowa some years ago, but decided against it as I already had my first bout of blood clots in my lungs and didn't want a second bout at that time, but ended up getting another bout of blood clots anyways.

T Bell, when they shot "Friends of Eddie Coyle" in Boston they had Whitey Bulger and his hoodlums hanging around the set as unofficial consultants (after paying them a tribute). Mitchum hit it off so great with the mob he ended up hanging out with them every night.

Mitchum did 30 days in a county jail in 1949 for smoking pot.

@Thinkerbell I remember hearing about that lol. When they made Friends of Eddie Coyle my dad took us to watch some of the shooting one town away. After shooting Mitchum would head to the seedy bars of Dorchester and S Boston to watch and learn everything about their indiginous hoodlums! 😁
