So if someone went back in time a killed Hitler before he got to power, he would never have the idea for VW…

Who would own Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti and Ducati today? 🤔
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
The people who took over VW would still have been around..
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
@Thevy29 Fair, but history might have gone differently for the auto industry with that change 🤷‍♂️
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@Zaphod42 Many things would have been different. That's for sure..

Ford. They would have continued to expand in both Russia and Germany while no German resistance would have made the Soviet empire expand across Europe.

All other automobile companies would have been consolidated into three to five major global brands. Anti monopoly laws in the USA would build up global quality tier brands as an internationally owned stock conglomerate headquartered in the US where purchase power had the advantage.

Not quite. Ferruchio Lamborghini lived on a farm next door to Enzo Ferrari. He saw what Enzo was building and decided he could do better.

Dr Ferry Porsche decided that a car should be fun to drive not just to drive from a to b. Hense the Porsche 356 was created to fulfill this dream.

Even his own men tried to kill him and they were closest to Hitler. All failed. I just think he must have had an unsee, evil protector to have escaped so many times.
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
@Jemimapuddleduck Maybe it was the doings of Rasputin from beyond the grave 💀
Jemimapuddleduck · 31-35, F
@Zaphod42 Not sure about him, but I did read an interesting fact that there concentration camps before the war even started.

Not a big deal VW is no longer the peoples car anyway and you can't work on them yourself anymore the VW computer controls everything.
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
I think it would have a few more effects than just that
Some or all of them might still be independent, Bugatti might never have been resurrected, Lamborghini potentially could even be bankrupt

Who knows, maybe Porsche might've gone back to their EV origins before Tesla was even created

And the Citroen 2CV could've been introduced to the world without the delay caused by the war and the need to hide it from Hitler
@Zaphod42 even the Alfa Romeo Carabo concept car, the Miura, the original Countach prototype without the NACA ducts or radiator scoops (though, of course, they were necessary), and the 2 or 3 other similar cars he designed around the same time as the Diablo, including the Cizeta Moroder V16 (I think an afermarket tuner version, maybe by Gemballa, actually looked better, with some vertical separators in the side intakes, instead of the horizontal strakes like the Ferrari 512 TR) and I think a Maserati concept car in memory serves me correctly

I wonder if perhaps both Porsche and Lamborghini might be under the Stellantis umbrella today if Hitler had been killed, and Stellantis could the current reigning EV powerhouse with inductive continunuous recharging built into ALL of the roads in Italy
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
@BlueGreenGrey I didn’t know he did the Mordor! That answers a few things though 😂
@Zaphod42 that and the Bugatti EB110 I believe, they all had a similar look :)

hmmm I'm thinking now that the Cizetas with vertical slats in the intakes were not actually done by an aftermarket tuner but were actually just a design change by Cizeta after the initial prototype with the horizontal strakes ... just that simple change made it look so much better, more shark-like

Good point! Let's try out your theory on Donald J. Trump
