Are Hyundai's and Kia's junk?

I was going through Reddit and reading horror story after horror story about engines suddenly failing on models as recent as 2020, along with various other problems. And then their customer service is apparently a joke? I've never owned a Hyundai or Kia so I wouldn't know any of this first hand. Maybe someone on here could share an experience.

My Kia was pretty alright for the 6 or so years I had it. I lost it in a crash so I don't know how much longer it would've kept going.
One thing that annoyed me kinda early on though was this rubber thing next to the windshield got fucked up fairly early on and would flap around. Tried using heavy duty glue but it would become unstuck with the heat every summer.

As far as the engine/transmission/etc it was fine. The battery went once, but it was cause I left the lights on overnight once by accident.
