Are cars nowadays better than cars of the past?

I've read that many 70's and 80's cars for example were pretty bad as far as quality goes (in America at least), but they were a lot easier to repair and maintain.

NOPE i would say newer cars are made cheaper made and are more unsafe and have more problems

@DeluxedEdition problems, yes, unsafe, no. New cars have more crash protection, car avoidance, blind spot monitoring than any car in the 70s, 80s or 90s

@justanothername most new cars are made from plastic and aluminum and scrunch up like a can in an accident🤷‍♂️

but agreed with the crash protection and cameras. those are nice additions. you know they even make cameras that you can install onto any car now?

@DeluxedEdition the front is designed to scrunch up but the cabin is protected. There’s drive and passenger air bags, side impact protection and much more.

@justanothername All that tech is designed to permit drivers to have little or no situational awareness and be 'stupid' drivers.
