What would you do?

So my car completely stalled out at a red light yesterday. It's never done that. Then as I restarted it, it was ok .but lagged a little as I was nearing my house. Then as I turned slowly into my driveway, it stalled out completely again.
Thank you to all who gave me ideas what it could be yesterday 🌹.

My mechanic is about an 8 min drive away. Do I try to..
A. drive it to mechanic , and hope it won't stall out, since it just started doing it, or B. take it to AutoZone to get it scanned for the issue, (it's near mechanic), OR,
C. Have it towed to mechanic since it could stall out again at a light and possibly not start again...

If you have roadside or towing get it towed. Don’t risk your life or anyone else’s.

@MyMonstersAreReal yes I'm going to get it towed. Even eight minutes away it could maybe not start and the road I'm on there's no where to pull over. I'm not risking it ... Ty!!

I’d chance driving it to the mechanic immediately. Call the mechanic ahead and make sure he can see you immediately too.

You don't happen to have AAA do you? If you're going to drive a clunker it's a good investment
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@GerOttman I do have it and am going to tow it.
Inform your mechanic and explain what's happening
If he advised you to drive the car then drive it slowly to him
But let him know to prepare to assist you should you be in a situation not to be able to drive it

If not, tow it to him,

But either way getting the car to him would be your best bet

@SilentKiller Ty..I'm going to have it towed, it's safest choice
sarabee1995 · 31-35, F
If it were me, I'd drive it there. But drive slowly, stay to the right, expect it to stall and have a quick plan to restart. Eight minutes isn't far.

@sarabee1995 Thanks I think I'll try after all. I'm going to be so nervous taking a turn, Bec that's when it stalled out, and at a light. But hopefully it'll start back up, since the issue only just started yesterday. Thanks 🌼

Definitely try driving it. Save the tow fee.
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Baybreeze If you have AAA that is the safest way. Will they tow it for free?
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@Musicman Yes towing is included in all roadside plans. I agree, I'm going to have it towed in the morning..ty🌸
Musicman · 61-69, M
@Baybreeze Call today and let them know it is coming in the morning. That way you will move to the front of the line.

Sounds like you could make it 8 minutes. If it seems ok starting then go for it. I wouldn't wait too long if the problem is heat related.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@uncalled4 I'm rethinking calling AAA it's about to expire in a few months so why risk it stalling again, what if it doesn't restart 😧
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@Baybreeze Then you call them anyway

I can almost guarantee it's a fuel pump, or injector issue.
It's not the battery, but could be the alternator.

Either way, I'd chance driving to the mechanic.
Hazards on trying to drive normally.
Ready to shift to neutral and coast to the breakdown...

Record video of the dash with your phone to aid the mechanic in diagnosis.

AutoZone got nothing for ya.
Trust me.

@HikingMan I'm going to have it towed on morning. I wonder if a fuel injector or pump is a pricey repair.? I'm watching every dollar as it is 🙁

@Baybreeze Send me the make year and model in a DM
