@helenS Of course it is. Very different indeed.

But the point is that petroleum is a key ingredient in plastic. Without drilling for petroleum we would have no plastic in the world.

Now I'll be the first to admit that plastic in many of its uses is awful. But the fact remains that we have no near term replacement for plastics.

@sarabee1995 Plastic as packaging material is problematic, plastic as a material is great and irreplaceable. Every cable is covered in plastic.
