Anyone here who doesn't drive a car?

I'm grateful to have the privilege of owning a vehicle, but sometimes I wish I had other options to get where I want to go, you know? Public transportation here in the Chicago suburbs isn't the greatest. We have lots of underserved areas.
with public transportation you have no idea whose butt was in the seat before you. SHUDDERS

@saragoodtimes oh dear me... What about the store.... Even the fancy ones you go to... Who last touched the product you bought.. The elevator you were in... The very air you breathe...
@braveheart21 haven't been in an elevator in years ( very claustrophobic) don' worry about items I buy at the mall, usually have clothes dry cleaned before wearing. if buying for a special event usually it's ordered specially for me and my personal shopper has it stored for me

@saragoodtimes all the people that have touched it.. Even the food pickers and packers... Are you so picky about everything... If so Alan needs to have a chat with you about your own immunity..

I have had a car for all the years I’ve had a job but I hate driving so when I retired I went back to using only my bicycle. Everything is close enough so I don’t need a car anymore, I’m happy.

I can drive a bulldozer. Does that count

@HumanEarth Yes it does! 🙂🙂🙂 I use to own a Case front end loader.
Me. I stopped driving when my old car died, back in the 90s. I crunched the numbers, with insurance, payments even on a used car, and gas. There’s also the fact that I’d have to park on the street (my building pre-dates cars and there’s no garage), and the city has some of the worst incidents of auto vandalism in the Bay Area. But we do have excellent public transportation. So between that, taxis and Uber/Lyft, I make it work.

@bijouxbroussard I have to park on the street and it can be a hassle. Especially in the winter time here, when we have snowstorms and everyone has to have their car off the street by the time the trucks show up to clear the snow...or you can get a parking ticket 😬.
@SubstantialKick Our weather isn’t that severe, but the street cleaner comes, and I hear my neighbors going out to move their cars.

I have a car but not a license to drive. I just get around via bicycle, at least until I kick myself to get a license

I've lived in that area, I wouldn't use public transport there ever.

I don't because I don't need to but I'd like to start.
