I’ve just bought a Alfa Romeo GT 1.9JTD (2005) and the engine light has just come on and on the screen is says “motor control system failure” is that something I’ve got to worry about?
I'd recommend getting a diagnosis done. Plug-in diagnostic equipment will give you more of an indication as to what exactly has gone wrong. Apert from that, try googling around. This engine is quite common and was used elsewhere in the Fiat range and also by SAAB. Maybe you'll get more of an idea what to expect.
@daddybloke Yes, i understand. It looks like the Ford had less of an idsue. In the long term parts could be cheaper. Anyway he has this car and the general warning is of no use until it's scanned for codes. Hopefully it's a simple problem.. thanks for your input..
It’s been said that the only way to own an Italian sports car is to have three of them, one to drive, one in the shop for repairs and one broken down on the side of the road.
@pikminboy look up the procedure that is used to reset the OIL CHANGE mileage light. I have mine done by the dealer (cuz it is free) and they always seem to forget to reset the light. I looked it up on youtube and reset it myself if they forget to.
@Lilnonames I’ve looked online to see if I can see what other people have mentioned but I can’t seem to find a common answer. I know nothing about cars so I’m hoping it’s nothing to serious.
