Though not easy at times, turning from unwanted thoughts and habits, can be done by deliberation. We can train our thoughts, as well as choose them. We do know right from wrong. In this way we can take back our power that unwanted thoughts and habits try to claim. We are in control. Sometimes we have to be reminded of that. Doing what is right instead of wrong, puts us back in control and allows us to keep our power. It's sometimes takes practice. Some people don't realize they are still in control and that's why they remain enslaved to things. The first thing to ask ourselves when situations come up in our mind that try to tempt us, is: Is this something that will be good for me and benefit me in the long run? If not, then don't give your power away to temptation. Occupy and chose something else that will benefit your mind and your life in the long run.

@LadyGrace Hmmmmm if only it was that simple 🤔
@SarithBorn I added more, onto those sentences. Reread what I wrote please. No it's not going to be easy. Nothing worthwhile IS easy, yet we can train ourselves to watch out for the first glimpse that our mind is trying to control us. It's not easy, but it is worthwhile.

@LadyGrace That stuff you wrote is not what i mean. Its a mental kinda thing it would take far too long to explain it all. Here's the abridged version. My mind is like a prison that i cant escape from and it sometimes is a blessing and sometimes a curse, It's a constant battle to stay balanced. 🤔
@SarithBorn I agree and that is what I wrote about. It is a mental thing. If we cannot control our own minds then who can? God gave us that ability to do so. But sometimes that takes training and sometimes we don't think we can help ourselves but we can. I agree that it does feel like a trap at times. One we feel we can't get out of. I've been there and it is awful. Sometimes these are due to a hormonal imbalance and sometimes we can't help that because of our diet. There's so many things that can go into this, causing us to feel this way, including deep depression. It is certainly not easy but with prayer it can be done and also it takes training the mind to rewire it to not think so negatively. I don't think it's anyone's fault. It's just that we have to be aware of these things and do our best to resolve them. Sometimes that takes medication. There's also the saying that we are what we think. That goes a long way as well. It takes changing our habits and our thinking. I realize some people feel they absolutely cannot do this and I can understand that. For example, when someone hurt me one time really bad, I grieved really hard for a year and 2 months and then I told myself I cannot go on like this! I have got to really concentrate on doing something about it myself. It was the hardest time ever and all I could do was sit on my chair and do nothing during that time. It was all I could do to even do the dishes. I literally had to force myself. And then I told myself I would do just one thing no matter how simple, each day. Each day I would accomplish something even if I had to force myself. And I prayed for God to help me because I just couldn't do it on my own. He gave me the strength to do one thing each day and that one thing made me feel like I had accomplished something and that I could do something. So each day I did one thing and it built up my self-esteem and encouraged me and then I started taking B12, as I know that is for nerves and depression. I took it everyday the sublingual kind that you put under your tongue, as I knew I had a deficiency and as soon as I did that along with prayer and making myself do something each day for accomplishment, it made all the difference in the world. The depression got better each and every day but at least it was something I could do to help myself. I pray that you will do the same. It really does work. Every time during the day that I felt like I was getting depressed I would take the B12 in a cherry flavor that you put under your tongue to dissolve, from Walmart. These things literally saved me. I knew God would help me and show me a way and he did. Believe it or not, Satan gives us these awful moods and thoughts. He always gives us these negative thoughts in our heads and this is when we need to turn to Christ to help us and pray to him and he helps us become stronger spiritually.

@LadyGrace As an atheist praying is not an option. 😇
@SarithBorn It's still an option for anyone to pray, who wants change. Change your mind and you will change your life. You never know until you try. Perhaps someone has lied to you that there is no God. I don't know, but I found out real quick how real God is and how he can help us. Nothing says you have to do that but it does work. God saved my child from dying so I know he is real, I'm not having to guess. Just saying. I do wish you the best.
