Can you be both rich and a liberal?

So my parents make a lot of money. Like it's a lot.
I'm really liberal. Today someone told me that I can be a liberal and call for social equality but I'll always have daddy's credit cards to back me up.
So, I'm just wondering: can you be a liberal and be very rich?

You can be rich and liberal. It's why some conservatives seem to pathologically hate George Soros. Oh, and a lot of the silicon valley billionaires are fairly liberal. Warren Buffet is liberal in some people's eyes. Yeah...you can definitely be both.

@Xuan12: Dude everyone hates George Soros. I'm prob the most liberal person ever and I hate him. He's a scumbag. In fact it's even stupid not to hate him.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@rgbpoli: Why so?
rgbpoli · F
@Xuan12: He's a pos who wants to control the government and push his own agenda through. I can't believe someone actually likes that piece of trash.

yes, but that generally means you are bound for Congress and have a questionable tax payment history.

In all seriousness, there is nothing wrong or inherently evil about working hard, smart and being successful in making money for yourself.

you absolutely can - see Bill Gates, George Soros, or Warren Buffett. Being rich doesnt de-legitimate your political beliefs, in many ways it validates them as you are risking sacrificing all that, to help yor beliefs
HenryJ · 26-30, M
Yes because as far as I have seen, liberals preach some ideal and never practice it. In fact it would be unliberal to not be a hypocrite... Yep let the interesting comments begin!
@HenryJ: You mean like the conservatives who bash on about "smaller government" ? 'Small enough to fit in a woman's uterus and a gay person's bedroom' ? 🙄
HenryJ · 26-30, M
What the U.S.A.'s government was designed to accomplish like many others is; to use taxes to pay for large scale building projects (roads etc.), keep order, and protect the citizens. Not to save money for people's retirement, pay for people's dumb actions, and regulate absolutely everything, and set minimum wage, price floors and price ceilings. Must I go on?
@HenryJ: Except for the fact that our Constitution addresses much more and always has. Our states have their own laws within reason, but ultimately the Constitution is supposed to be the final word. And the federal Supreme Court has often been called upon to rule on the law of the land when state laws have been unconstitutional.

There's no logical reason why your political beliefs should be the same as your parents.
You should make your choices based on your experiences of the world.

Its liberal not communism
@deademostrawberry: That's true. Surprisingly, a few people aren't clear on that.

Yes, lots of Liberals are rich. Most of them are Libras.
The Clintons seem to be doing alright.
Absolutely. They're called "limousine liberals" in some circles. Not everyone who is rich is selfish.
