Since when did "hi" and "how are you?" become unacceptable things to say?

Good manners and politeness are always appropriate. Certain people simply don't appreciate it, because they're stuck in their miserable rut.

On here, when they're followed up by something inappropriate. That doesn't happen every single time, but often enough and one becomes wary.
