Why do Americans allow corporations and wealthy people to invest massive money into elections, circumventing democracy?

The Democrat media is pushing the narrative that the Epstein case has "divided" the MAGA movement. In the real world, I see a MAGA movement totally united against the Democrats. Is this just more copium for the failing Democrat party?
