Remember when we got to watch in real time Elon Musk realizing that the protections he removed from Twitter were there for a reason?

It was funny but it has serious consequences.

Andrew Tate and Tommy Robinson helped spread the disinformation about the identity of the suspect for the girl who died in the Southport stabbing. They directly contributed to the islamophobic riots in the UK.

Two people were previously banned and reinstated by Trump.

@ArishMell In one sense of course it's irrelevant, because even if the rumour had been true there would have been no justification for the riots. But it fuels the government's enthusiasm for legislating against "disinformation" on social media - which often simply means opinions they disagree with.

He tried to blame it on sabotage. In reality, it was a failure of the platform itself, not a deliberate hack attack. Same thing happened when he tried to "launch" the De Santis campaign on Twitter.
