There are so many new diseases cropping up, they can't remember everything! Just like all the new medications that are dumped on the market everyday. My pharmacist caught a possible bad interaction, they contacted the doctor, then my next visit, she acted like she found the mistake. Except my pharmacist wouldn't fill the prescription, so I already knew haha.

I research various herbs for healing and go to a local health food store where I know the owners, who have been in business for about 45 years and ask if they have a certain item, and was told by the granddaughter one day that there are so many new things coming out that they haven't heard of them and would check into it...and they do follow up and stock items that I've asked about.

My last doctor ALWAYS Googled my symptoms and what to do about them - right there in the examination room!
My current doctor at least has the courtesy to google them outside the examination room (but he still Googles 'em).

They ask me what over-the-counter remedies I take and that includes herbs...I think they should check for side effects or whatever in those cases and they may not have the information stored in their brains.

@cherokeepatti: My last doctor always Googled the side affects to the drugs he prescribed me. He was actually a very good doctor. Sadly he retired and now I'm stuck with a clinic doctor.

Don't they have books or MIMS for med's side effects? I hope they're checking on a reliable app, not google.

Good question. I guess it would depend if I went to him with a cold, or if I had really weird symptoms.

This has actually happened to me before

100%! Google is a reliable source! ;)

Especially Wicki! :)

Hopefully it's a medical website he was Googling and I'd be OK with that, there are mysterious sets of symptoms that very well could point to one single ailments or a variety. I think doctors are more upset that we Google medical stuff and know what we are talking about with them.

I've had this happen twice !!
Once when i went with a rash on my hands, and the second time with pain in my neck !
A bit disconcerting !!

@nedkelly: Turned out to be nerve damage !!
i kept getting shooting pains down my left arm, for a guy of my age that's normally a sign of heart trouble !!
Very worrying at the time.

For lawyers, doctors, engineers, and many other occupations, a Google search is a valid first step
Not very confident. Then in that case, I would invite them over to my house for dinner. As my dinner. :)

Suppose it's better than Doc writing "GOK" on your medical record

Google is absolutely useless when it comes to symptoms, and it wouldn't surprise me at all😊
