People who suddenly came into a lot of money, what was your horror story of people begging for money?
They say it takes money to make money, so how did you earn that first quantity that lead you towards FI? When did you start making a significant amount of money?
As a 23 year old who finally has a job that pays over minimum wage, I finally have some money to really start saving/investing. At what age did you start to make real money? What were you doing at the time? How did it affect your life?
I'd appreciate any tips and advice you all have. Thanks! How did you become so wealthy? Redditors who are rich (net worth $1 million+) - how did you get rich?
For example what field are you in, how old were you when you became worth at least a million, what advice do you have for those of us who aren't nearly there yet, etc. Are you rich? If so, how did you get there? How did you become rich?
At this point it is pretty clear, the whole "how to get rich?" question is essentially pointless. But I think it's helpful to hear how other people got rich. I wanna hear how you went from lower middle class or poor to top 10% wealth. The business you start with is never the business you finish with. Just keep your eyes open for opportunities and try something small. I'd avoid trying to make an app or build a big tech company since those are often years away from being profitable and kind of falls into the same category of trying to become a celebrity. The internet is still a great place to start a business though because it lets you scale! Think of traditionally successful businesses that exist in neighbourhoods and then try to figure out how you can use the internet to scale those businesses. What industries are really not keeping up with the times. Just stay focused on the idea that starting something is better than not starting something. A bad idea is better than no idea and as long as you don't do something drastic like invest your life savings into the business on a whim, just go for it!!
How to get rich at a younger age so you can actually enjoy your riches? So today I just met my mom's friend's mother. She's 89 years old. She got rich (became a millionaire) at 75 but got alzheimer's at 79. She had another major disease that hindered her movement before that. Basically, her millions are spent on caregivers and medicines. She can't even enjoy the money that she made! Though I suppose it's good that she can afford health care. But seriously, it saddens me that this woman worked so hard to become a millionaire and then when she finally makes it, she can't even enjoy her millions! I don't want to be working so hard for money, and when I finally have enough, I can't even enjoy it anymore because I'm too old and too sick. So do you guys have any advice on this? I'm graduating from nursing school in 2 years if that helps.
