In what may come as a bit of a surprise, apparently with the closing down of many western businesses in Russia due to their illegal stab at stealing another country, because theft is what it is, ... Russians are buying and hoarding McDonald's meals. I read one report of a happy meal going for around the $1100 price tag.
Could be a sensible move if there is rationing. I heard of a McDonalds burger bought in Iceland during the credit crunch when the brand closed down . . 12 years later it was still intact, owing to all the preservatives in it 😳
Yes! I was there when they first opened McDonald's, and the lines were incredible. Someone asked me if this were typical or gourmet American food and I laughed. But Russians do seem to like it! I will also say this--homemade Russian food can taste delicious!!
McDonald's will continue in Russia under a different brand. The Russian government is confiscating all the McDonald's assets there so kids will still be able to enjoy the Russian government owned McDonald's Happy Meals.
