Intergenerational songs

Other than patriotic songs, songs related to a specific holiday (like Christmas), and childhood songs (like Mary Had a Little Lamb), can you think of a song that just about everyone in your country would know the words to, regardless of generation?

In the US, I am thinking "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

Yes, several that most would know some of the lyrics of. Aside from the first two verses of Amazing Grace, [i]maybe[/i] this one.

"Old MacDonald".
I was in a Best Buys about five years ago and Don McClean’s "American Pie" came on the radio. All kinds of people began singing along; just about every walk of life, age, race, etc. was represented.
