Intergenerational songs

Other than patriotic songs, songs related to a specific holiday (like Christmas), and childhood songs (like Mary Had a Little Lamb), can you think of a song that just about everyone in your country would know the words to, regardless of generation?

In the US, I am thinking "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

Yes, several that most would know some of the lyrics of. Aside from the first two verses of Amazing Grace, maybe this one.

@Piper I think that was the very first 45RPM record of "popular music" that I ever listened to!
@Piper An entire new generation discovered this song through the movie "Beetlejuice", of all things ! 😄

@DrWatson I still have a small book of mine, in the paper sleeves. Although I don't think that 45 is among them, it was on an album my dad had.

@bijouxbroussard They surely did! I tried to attach a clip of that in the first post, because just seeing it cheers me up somehow. 🙂

@bijouxbroussard Haha...we were apparently posting that at about the same time. :)

When I first tried to add it, the same video of the song kept pasting.
