What time of year is it appropriate to wear snow pants in public?

Poll - Total Votes: 21
Now is okay!!! (November, first snow, low of -2 c high of 5 c)
You might want to wait a bit longer - I could understand if people thought you’re a bit weird.
A snow suit!?!? Are you crazy??? I think anybody who wears snow pants in public is so weird!!!
Wear whatever you want whenever you want, who cares!!!

Eg: going to a store, walking dogs, etc. I ask because it’s the first real snow of the year today where I live and it’s freeeezing cold this morning, and I’m seeing lots of people bundled up but nobody wearing their snow pants yet. I ask because I like wearing my snow pants or a snow suit out but I don’t really want people in the store or my neighbours to look at me funny lol.

So I thought I’d take a shot and see what SW has to say about the issue, so what time of year/approximately what temperature/snowyness do you consider appropriate to see someone wearing snow pants to the point where you wouldn’t really notice/care or if you did notice just not be surprised to see someone is wearing them?? I just want to avoid people noticing and being shocked that I’m wearing them

Ps to any of my followers seeing this: new story that I’ve teased foreeever definitely coming soon 😊
Civil War Union head of nurses Dorothea Dix concluded tight corseting for the famous 18" waist was dangerous to women's health. A young nurse vowed to continue cinching her corset tightly. "I'd rather be dead than out of fashion!"

Dix replied, "if you continue corseting, you won't have a choice - you'll be dead AND out of fashion."

Similar situation here with snow pants. Which matters more, a fashion faux pas or frostbite?

(Tip: wear panty hose over your socks and under your trousers. You'll be much warmer.)

@Mamapolo2016 Also definitely a good point about panty hose/leggings under pants, I definitely do that when it’s cold. But honestly as weird as it is I really prefer snow pants if I could get away with wearing them
@SnowGirl To be weird here you'd have to try much harder. 😂

@Mamapolo2016 Haha okay well I guess that’s good to hear!!! 😂

Hey, if the weather calls for it, go for it. I'm not afraid to wear snow pants to fight off wind or snow. My body will melt inside my protection but at least I'm staying safe and warm!

People shouldn't be shocked to see you wearing it especially now that temperatures are dropping. Better to be warm and look a little funny than to be cold and regretting not wearing them.

I wear my bib snowpants year round and I really don’t care what others think or say, I love camping and even in July if it’s a real cool night around the campfire I will wear my bib snowpants with a sweatshirt. Snowpants are nice and cozy to wear so in my opinion wear them whenever you feel like it and don’t worry about what others will say

@hunkalove Okay that’s pretty funny 😋

Any time YOU want to . It’s on you and nobody else’s business in my opinion.
Different people get cold at different temperatures.
Repete · 61-69, M
Carry a sled with you.
It really doesn’t make a difference some people will just act that way no matter what you wear. Wear what you like and let them wear what they like.. maybe someone will like wearing a bikini in the winter . 😂 @SnowGirl

I tend to go by the outside temperature. That and what I am wearing. I have gone for a walk in a kilt and hose when it was -30 C so I might have a better tolerance of cold than you. Not sure.
SnowGirl · 26-30, F
@hippyjoe1955 Thank you 😊

Is it snowing? If so, snow pants. If not, no snow pants.
Vincent1235 · 26-30, M
I just wear it whenever lol
SnowGirl · 26-30, F
@Vincent1235 Me too, but same in public too??
If it’s cold why not wear them! Stay warm and dry nothing worse then going somewhere trekking through snow and slush and getting all wet when you could be nice and dry in your boots and snowpants haha

I general never wear snowpants. I wear long underwear if I'm out for extended periods below -5 degrees Celcius
oceanblue · 31-35, F
have never seen snowfall in my life😒
oceanblue · 31-35, F
@SnowGirl great fun i can feel 🙂 do peaple take bath everyday during such season?
SnowGirl · 26-30, F
@oceanblue I have a shower every other day and every other time I shower I wash my hair, I keep that routine all year round.
The warmth from my clothes will make me sweat sometimes still!!!
Idk about others but I always try to dress so that I’m too hot rather than too cold, but I dress in layers so if I’m too hot I can take off my coat or sweater underneath or I’ll unzip the top of my snowsuit if I’m wearing one etc. But I fight with the cold a lot so I usually stay pretty bundled up on the cold days 😊
oceanblue · 31-35, F
@SnowGirl awesome. 🙂

I can't tell you what to do. Wear them now if you want. It's your choice to make, not mine. You do you, boo boo.
