What is it you desire?

Desire seems to me a contract you make with yourself to be unhappy untill you get what you want.
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
Interesting. Some say the same of hope. I have desires…destinations I want to reach but because destinations can be overhyped is why I focus more on the quality of the journey taken instead. There’s been so many times the journey towards something took me on an unforeseen side quest that ended up being a desire unrealized until I was in it experiencing a touch of it. So desires are cool and all…it gives us something to strive towards, but I’m too in my element just enjoying the ride.

@PerfectionOfTheHeart Interesting back. Those paths we cross be them innate or tangible along the way do indeed encompass the stride in the steps we take. I like your thinker. 🙂
Carlisle · F
Interesting.
You have a good self-help way of thinking about desires.
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@Carlisle Well. Now is all there ever is. Seems practical I suppose.
Carlisle · F
@CodyCode that’s kind of how I think about relationships.
I think if two people enjoy their time togther then they should meet again and do more fun stuff togther. And then again. Then again. And so on until before you know it they are old, still together and still having fun in the now.
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@Carlisle Quite beautiful. If only life could play out so simply in absence of need and want and expectations.
I wish to be able to live at least another 10 years. And because I know that my life time is limited, I enjoy life and am grateful for every day I can continue to live and participate in the lives of my loved ones.

As real of freedom as I can possibly get.
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@SW-User Certainly an acquisition with in reach, no?
SW-User
@CodyCode Should be.
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@SW-User Is.
summersong · F
Idk I think when we deny our desires it causes us to miss out on fulfillment as well.
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@summersong I agree. Might not find denial, but more so dependant need to consistently seek, the cause of missing out on what already is. As the adage says; missing the forest due to the trees proclaims.

We betray our true selves when we do not follow our hearts desire.
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@SW-User Deep. An algorithm set even if the " true self" of which you speak remains unknown. Betrayal then becomes an obstacle we ourselves set along our own path. Interesting.
Lilymoon · F
I desire change but it's eluding me. Perhaps it's a lesson to learn.
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@Lilymoon Perhaps. Indeed find myself often trending the same water.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
Desire and ignorance lie at the root of suffering.
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@DunningKruger Gautama believed all of life was suffering. Perhaps each root seeks a different path.
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
To have a good, faithful friend. That´s all I desire.
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@Loretta78 A commendable goal. If happiness were built upon things not to change, perhaps you've already shared their presence.

@Max13 Okay.

peaceful death.
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@octoberthesixth Perhaps die before you die and the absence of death might be quite calm.

My desires change ...
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@SW-User Indeed. And yet your presence throughout lingers even when you're gone. Like perfume on one's shirt.
LucyFuhr · 56-60, F
Why be unhappy when you could just be patient?
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@LucyFuhr The why in this very question of yours remains the jest of my own.

Simply why.

🙂
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
To be with someone that appreciates me, loves me and wants me.
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@iamonfire696 A desire we share then.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@CodyCode I hope you find it 💕
CodyCode · 36-40, M
@iamonfire696 Perhaps we both will. 🙂
