Hi Kelly :) Good to see you here! I think COVID has really impacted a lot of inventory and markets since business have closed down, and employment to keep up with mass productions have reached a new low. Trading has probably been restricted too which means less resources are being shipped and transfered from place to place.
Lushiro · M
@Sunnykel76 Not him too :( I talked to him a bit before EP shut down. Do you remember Colleen'Ohara? She passed away last March..
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@Lushiro That is very sad, as she was a lovely lady
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@Lushiro oh my, so sad. She was always so nice.

DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F

@saragoodtimes biden is such a disgrace
@jbon85 his story about his train ride when he was VP has been proven false by every network yet he repeated it again yesterday. what are his babysitters thinking letting him speak in public
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
I can't usually tell if it's because of a food shortage, or a shortage of motivated employees to restock the shelves. Seems our local store has many managers but very few working employees. 🤷‍♂️
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@WindTherapy that could be the case as well.
TexChik · F
Creepy Joe (Brandon) intends to punish the US ( citizens) over the vax .
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@TexChik he has caused a mess for sure
TexChik · F
@Sunnykel76 planned is more like it
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@TexChik true true
LucyFuhr · 56-60, F
YES!
...and the stuff that is available is just the stuff that no one else wanted.
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
no but i've noticed prices are higher
@Jenny1234 I've noticed the same. It's hard to stay on budget without giving up some non nessisary items
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@Jenny1234 yes here too
Rhonda · F
Some shelves are empty and the prices have shot up with certain things. However I did manage to get 6 bottles of Gordon's gin on offer at Asda for £10 a 700cl bottle. So I won't go thirsty for a long time.

Here in the UK it’s a lack of delivery drivers causing shortages. The money being offered now is very generous to attract new ones.

@Stereoguy What I heard was that many drivers had left through retirement,Brexit and the DVLA have a backlog on testing new drivers

I usually get my groceries with the store PU service. Every week there are items that are substituted or not available. These shortages are temporary. Usually if they don't have them one week, they will be there the next. Prices are rising rapidly as well. Milk from 1.09/half gal. to 1.59. Dozen grade A large eggs from 1.09 to 1.39. Beef prices are obscene.

All that aside I don't think any of this is long term. It does seem that the days of almost limitless variety on supermarket shelves are gone. At least we are able to get something similar to what we are looking for.
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@bowman81 a gallon of milk here is between 4.50 and 5.00
bowman81 · M
@Sunnykel76 Wow....😳
skmokisses · 46-50, F
Not where I am luckily. But most stores still have the quantity limitations so to avoid bulk buying.
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@skmokisses I went to 2 stores looking for carrots. I dont know if I ever went to the store and they didn't have carrots.
skmokisses · 46-50, F
@Sunnykel76 Yeah that is an odd item to be out of 🤯
SW-User
No... but if we keep up this chatter the shelves will be empty because of hoarders.
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@SW-User 🤐
Coppercoil · M
Supply chain issues I hear.. I don't shop often enough to notice. I only go like once a month..
@Sunnykel76 Penn St. offers a discount to Pa residents while Lehigh charges everyone the same. either way the choice is his and we'll support his decision. in 2 years we'll have both in college at the same time
Funtoy4u · 61-69, M
@saragoodtimes My son drinks almost a half gallon a day. I buy 3 gallons every week.
@Funtoy4u not to mention how many Oreo's Dan can eat at one sitting
Viper · M
In certain items yes, but most items no...

Of course part of the problem is that just in time supply chain model, which reduces storage, inventory and saves money in theory if you can time everything up correctly.

Which of course everyone's been going to for the last decade... But covin shows it's huge weak spot, if you and your suppliers have no storage or inventory, then you're absolutely screwed if you can't time everything just right...

So it's not just covid it's not just local supply chain it's the money saving model but everyone has been going to for the last decade, which is absolutely the worst case scenario model for something like covid.

With that in mind covid actually hasn't been that bad considering it's the worst case scenario...

That being said they should probably be hedging their beds and splitting models, doing some of both models and finding out what's best for the during covid and post covid worlds.
SkeetSkeet · 100+, F
Mostly vegetables. Hahah I did see a sign a few ago they put a sign on the ice machine. "Due to the pandemic only one per customer" 😂 like who the eff has an ice shortage
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@SkeetSkeet weird 😂
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
There's been talk of booze shortages coming up. I stock up at the start of each month. There have been some other shortages as well. I've been stocking the freezer the last month will sales on meats.
Keeper · M
@JohnnyNoir It's the bottles (shortage) - plenty of booze. We will have to cup our hands together like Tiny Tim and ask nicely soon.
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@Keeper aaahhh, I didn't know that. Thought it might be transportation issues.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
No but prices are high
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@HoraceGreenley here in Pennsylvania too
curiousaboy · 26-30, M
Yes, unusual inflation.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Not personally, but my wife says when she goes shopping she's noticing shortages of some thing plus there are brands she's never seen before on the shelves. And of course, cans are smaller or less full, but prices are higher even though you get less.
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
I’ve noticed it here. That and it takes a good two weeks to replenish those shelves, sometimes longer.
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@PerfectionOfTheHeart same way here, no restocking
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
Not yet but prices are going way up. I bought 12 pieces of Fried Chicken yesterday cost me 25 Dollars. It was 17.99
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@FreestyleArt good grief
Keeper · M
The liquor stores are half empty as well.

Apparently there is a glass bottle shortage as well 🙄
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@Keeper oh boy...👎
Yeah but I think it a management issue. Cause the next county over isn't have those issues.
Muldoon · 56-60, M
Same here. You can tell which foods are the most over priced, they're the last ones left on the shelf.
Scarfface · 46-50, M
Not here, I'm in the UK.
There have been some things I couldn't get though. Gaps in the shelves.
SW-User
Yep
Supposed to get even worse
Interesting timing coming into the holiday season
Rickg · 31-35, M
My neighbours are starting to look delicious 😋
@Rickg Lol .. I had a couple who did in a different way before food shortages .. but I see what you did there ;-)
Rickg · 31-35, M
Keep it clean. I’m just talking about cannibalism @Stillwaiting

They are getting that way here too.
Sunnykel76 · 46-50, F
@PrivateHell its scary stuff.
Spokeskitties75 · 46-50, M
Yep! No chibani yogurt for me
Muldoon · 56-60, M
@Spokeskitties75 they didn't have my regular flavor. The last one was peach chobani so I took it.
Nope. Everything’s just quadruple in price
A bit hit and miss .. but more empty spaces in general

The only shortage I noticed so far is cat food.
Luckily, Los Angeles is a manufacturing and transportation center. So, no shortages here. I’ve noticed prices going up on certain items at the big grocery stores, but I go to specialty stores who haven’t had any change in price.

Good luck to those who are having a hard time.
Dosen't seem to be an issue here
Northguy1 · 56-60, M

No not here
Scarfface · 46-50, M
Some spaces in the shelves, I couldn't find men's deodorant, the coffee I usually buy and the vitamins. There was a few other spaces.
Scarfface · 46-50, M
@Scarfface Ive answered this question twice 😂
Not really, but I saw a $4.00 increase in the price of a small piece of steak I often purchase. Most shelves and other areas of the s/market I use, seem pretty full.
No, I haven't really noticed that. I've noticed that sometimes, particular items aren't available. But nothing on a large scale.
dale74 · M
I really haven't noticed any shortages although I did notice Oreos wear on sale the four column package for 299
Fluffybull · F
The only thing we can't get is Asda's own-brand oatcakes. We tried Tesco's but they're not as nice 😟. May have to up-grade to Nairn's 😱😆
SW-User
I've noticed intermittent shortages of cat food, beef and paper products..
Also frozen foods.
@SW-User cat food is the hardest to find. no market here has the food mine will eat. fancy feast seems to have the best supplies but I also feed a colony of ferals and that's awfully expensive for as many as I feed
Barny52 · 56-60, M
yep but not bad here in uk ,no porridge on our supermarket shelf yesterday !!
No. Not since the first panic of COVID. Resembling the day b4 the apocalypse.
Driver2 · M
