Gas

Gas is also something that accumulates in our lower intestines only to be released in elevators

There is also swamp gas

There are lots of gasses for other things, but we use them by name: such as butane or propane for grills, camp torches and cigarette lighters.

There is also diesel, which is not gas. This is how we distinguish what goes in what vehicles.

Standard vehicles get gasoline, which is called gas for short.
Diesel only goes in diesel engines. Getting that wrong makes foe a very bad day.

Considering that both gasoline and diesel are both petroleum and petrol is short for petroleum, do you get confused at the petrol station?
