is usually what they say. i dont get called "miss"

I get addressed as Sir at work...it used to feel weird earlier but I got used to it now.

I grew up in the south with family teaching me to say ma'am as a sign of respect, and moved to the north and kept keeping death glares whenever I used it 😂

You do not need to look old for either title. I went to private schools and we had to address everyone properly with miss, mrs., ma'm, sir. I still do it even to the checkout girls at grocery stores no matter their age.

It has nothing to do with age.
It's just customary for some people to address a girl of ANY age with Ma'am.
