Gotta tell the family
Don’t think you’d get a full military funeral depending on how long one has been in
Definitely not receive all the benefits from the SLGI for the family
If it’s the military’s fault? Possibly but all depends on the situation vs if someone killed themself in basic

@ImRileyTheDog gotta serve at least 6 months for VA/Benefits

@wildbill83 Even then you will not get full benefits and depends on what type of discharge

Idk
I’ve never heard of it happening
I’m not even sure if your family would be entitled to any benefits as your not technically a member of the military, only a candidate
But that’s how it works in Canada
Not sure if it’s the same in the states
Just don’t die, and you’ll be ok

Before any of that gets started, you fill out a shitload of papers, and filling out your beneficiaries is part of it. When I was in, my mom would have gotten a $200,000 payout if I had gotten deep-sixed in basic. Or anywhere else!

If the military was strictly at fault it would be a different story than if you just dropped dead of a preexisting condition or committed self murder.
