do you think it's rude to give someone money as birthday present?

so they buy whatever they want

I sent my friend money via Revolut today for her birthday as I knew she needed some for her Date night!
Little does she know I've paid for her deserts!
I know the restaurant manager! 😉
I just got a huge thank you off her.. Hilarious drunk voicemail!
Dates going well!

@Dusty101 I thought her date was her dessert ;) lol jk
Dusty101 · F
@Viper could be now! But that wasn't on me! 😇😁
@Dusty101 That is so cool ! What a great gift ! 😄

No, I actually prefer getting money rather than the endless supplies of candles/boxes of shortbread/jars of handcream etc that seem to come my way. It's only rude when it's an insultingly small amount from someone who can afford more
Carazaa · F
@Mindful I agree I do enjoy things that smell good though perfume, flowers, good soaps, good lotions, etc
Fluffybull · F
@Mindful Agree. So many gifts aren't really appreciated or used.
@Fluffybull Yes, I still have a gilt-framed painting of Poseidon in my closet. When the cousin who painted it visits from New Orleans, I have to put it on my wall. 😳

No. As a kid, I was thrilled to get money as a gift.
@chrisCA So was I. 😄

No! It's better because you can save it or buy something you like. 😊
No. It’s a gift and I’d be thankful they thought about me.

Nope.
My brother is known to do that.
It was much appreciated since there's a chance he'll get me something I don't want.

No because some people are very hard to please so they ought to appreciate the money.

{@octoberthesixth] no not at all both mam and i do it for family members . it may seem a cop out to some but rather waste money on something someone does not want or appreciate
EmoNeko · 16-17, F
It's a present. Sure, it's not too thoughtful, but it's a safe bet. Better than getting nothing at all
It's a bit weird but I don't think it's rude. A present is more thoughtful that's all.

I have never thought it rude, but I’m American. My friend who grew up in Spain still believe Ina gift based on “knowing” the person closely.

I don't think it's rude, I think it's lazy and awesome, I rather have the money and do what I please with it...

If you have an awesome item what to spend it on, or invest in, then awesome, but letting me decide is cool too.
Driver2 · M
No especially if you don’t know what they really want or need
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
Absolutely not
Not at all. It’s the surest way they’ll get something they want—they can choose it.
Atlotto · M
Not at all.
Hell no. Best idea ever

No. It's a pain in the ass to return shit for cash so you can buy the drugs you wanted in the first place.
