No, I actually prefer getting money rather than the endless supplies of candles/boxes of shortbread/jars of handcream etc that seem to come my way. It's only rude when it's an insultingly small amount from someone who can afford more

@Fluffybull lol, I have begun to say “no gifts please” I have things I don’t have the heart to throw away but I don’t use them …they are collecting.isn’t everyone over 50 in the same boat? We don’t need gifts

@Mindful I agree I do enjoy things that smell good though perfume, flowers, good soaps, good lotions, etc

@Mindful Agree. So many gifts aren't really appreciated or used.
@Fluffybull Yes, I still have a gilt-framed painting of Poseidon in my closet. When the cousin who painted it visits from New Orleans, I have to put it on my wall. 😳
