Sometimes, it's kind of creepy here. I had someone message asking for a picture of me and when I explained I don't share with people I don't know... He basically quit messaging.
I am glad I posted this now. I suppose I knew from the beginning it was dodgy. I just didn't want to reject a lonely soul without good reason. @SW-User

@skybluesam I have friends I have shared my picture with, but not random people I only see in my messages and not really on the site.
🤷🏻♀️ this is so normal for me. I’ve been blocked by a number of men who got upset because I won’t send them a photo. I do the anonymity I have here, where I can be myself and feel a bit free. If all they care about is what I look like, they aren’t the type of person I want to talk to. Also, once you send one, they want more and more. I’m just not comfortable with strangers (who interestingly enough never share their photo, they just want mine) having a collection of photos of me. I’m not sure why that’s so hard for them to understand. 😂
@iamonfire696 You are welcome, and I agree that just because some random person asks for such photos doesn't mean he/she is getting them, should get them, has a right to them.
No one should expect such personal revelations on a social site.
That’s one behavior pattern of a scammer. They try to collect photos of people, and then use them to setup other fake social media accounts to try and spear phish others. Eventually they will make up some sob story and ask for money.
Their gender really wasn't important to me. I accepted a simple request for friendship but I think I knew from the start it was a scam attempt. How times have changed since EP. :) @Keepitsimple
Some people are predators who seek to get images to blackmail you. Not saying she was but be careful. She had an objective and left when her target seemed unattainable
@skybluesam Actually I said something like if you are ready you can give me your smiling picture😅and he said ok but sending nothing lol.He has a unique personality that I admired and I really enjoyed talking to him.We are still talking now coming to 8 years😅
I know it's the internet and we all have doubts ,but how do you differentiate between a genuine interest to see a picture and a scammer ? Isn't it natural to see the picture of the person you're talking to ?
That is an interesting question and one that's difficult to answer. I think in my case I went with my instincts. I didn't let the fact that deep down I was flattered overcome my instincts. If they are genuine and worthwhile they will wait forever. A photo is only superficial anyhow. @Caleidoscope
@skybluesam Maybe they are getting confused as to which they should identify themselves with. And everyone now asks for freedom for what they want to do, want to be, and want to behave like. Someone said it right, "Half knowledge is more dangerous".
{@skybluesam] you did right to stick to your guns and not send it if it made you uneasy . some are very fickle on here and should not worry about being blocked as that is ther problem
