Blocked for refusing to send a photo

I was inboxed by a woman 30 years my junior asking to be friends. I don't want to refuse anyone friendship so I accepted. She asked to talk on hangouts so I downloaded it to talk. Three days into the 'friendship' she asked me to send a photo. I wasn't comfortable with sending a young woman a photo of me so I asked her to wait a while. She immediately disappeared from chat and blocked me on SW.
I used to be on EP and made a couple of good friends there. Is this incarnation really so different?

I know it's the internet and we all have doubts ,but how do you differentiate between a genuine interest to see a picture and a scammer ?
Isn't it natural to see the picture of the person you're talking to ?

That is an interesting question and one that's difficult to answer. I think in my case I went with my instincts. I didn't let the fact that deep down I was flattered overcome my instincts. If they are genuine and worthwhile they will wait forever. A photo is only superficial anyhow. @Caleidoscope
@skybluesam Yeah ,one should go with their instincts, but it's a tough choice to make. Many can just loose a good friend while harbouring the doubts.
