How to gain weight?

I don’t often see advice on this, but I’m 90 pounds and would like to at least gain 8 pounds. I get a good workout at my job, so I’m not worried about there being a muscle - fat imbalance.

Sorceress...

Your metabolism decreases over time. If you do nothing at all, you will naturally gain weight as you get older. There is no need to speed up that process! Unless your DOCTOR advises you that your weight is unhealthy, the best thing you can do is to not make any changes at all to either your diet or your lifestyle...
As long as you are eating regular meals and getting regular exercise (5 or more times a week) then you are PERFECT, just as you are.

Note that "regular meals" doesn't necessarily mean that you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. The healthiest people on the planet are those who just snack all day, eating like 10 or 20 mini-meals. Ironically, these people who snack all the time tend to take in fewer calories (each day) than if they were to eat 3 large meals a day. But if you eat regularly, even if it is the standard 3 meals a day, then you are fine...

I've dated a couple of full-grown women who weighed less than 90 pounds and they were both VERY healthy. Don't think of weight as a goal, think of fitness as a goal. And if you are confused on that, ask your doctor. Chances are, your doctor will tell you that there is nothing wrong with you...

@Sorceress OK, based on that...it does sound like you need to gain about 5-10 pounds. But as I said before, time will take care of that if you make no changes at all. By the time you hit 30, you will likely gain 10 pounds or more, with NO lifestyle changes. In the meantime, I'd be tempted just to find some kind of pad to sit on in the bathtub. They make special pads for office chairs that have room for the tailbone, I'd be surprised if they don't make some kind of pad for the bathtub as well. I don't think it would be responsible for anybody (besides a doctor) that is to advise you on how to gain weight. The irony of the situation is, if you force the matter and find a way to artificially pack on some pounds, you are likely to go too far in the opposite direction. And losing weight is a LOT harder than gaining it. So it's generally pretty foolish to try to force weight GAIN. But if you must gain weight, just add more carbs to your diet. An extra 500 calories of carbs a day should have you closer to ideal weight in just a month or two.

@mikeylyksit I know how to lose weight, sigh. I’ve been losing it over the past two years. Even with a slower metabolism, I’m sure I could accommodate.

@Sorceress It is worth every penny if you train well and if the supplement is of good quality you will only gain muscle mass.

@Sorceress Investing in yourself is always a good idea.

Eat, just gotta eat

Lifting helps gain muscle too but you gotta eat to feed the muscles

I have a few tips that have proved to be effective!
You could stop before going as far as me though. How are you with eating, do you find it a bit of a chore? Basically what I did was extra meals and snacking. I would eat breakfast at home, and a second when I got to work. Things like peanut butter, avocado, chocolate milk all help too. I also increased the 'bad' good I ate, more pizza, burgers and ice cream.

I'm trying to gain weight as well but I didn't have much success. I tried eatting more, taking vitamins, nothing works for me. I even checked with a doctor and he said probably that's just my genetics as I don't have any medical issue but... but those people that don't mind theor own thing and have a lroblem with my weight are kind of annoing!

How tall are you? At 90 pounds
Sorceress · F
@flappy 5’1, but it hurts to sit in a bath tub because of my tailbone and generally to sit for long at all, and I feel pretty uncomfortable with my body. My face is already too narrow naturally to be able to pull off a low weight.
Eat yucca and butter🤤
