So long as good hygiene is being practiced, I am okay with it. I figure I cannot put bags over the head of people's faces I do not want to see so what difference is a nipple or penis I do not want to see?

In the short term it would definitely be disruptive just due to social norms and fetishization of the naked form. But once it became normalized, it might be a net positive. Specifically regarding people with body image issues in typically concealed parts of the body. There would be more visibility of what is normal. A lot of people only see those things in advertisement, entertainment, or porn and those are all highly curated and not representative of normal.

@ViciDraco Those are valid, logical points. But I suspect it would’ve taken awhile for me to not be startled by encountering naked people while running daily errands. What got the laws repealed here were complaints from people whose children were seeing them.

@bijouxbroussard that is where I would actually say it went wrong. So long as we're discussing nudity and not people engaging in sexual behavior, I do not think children should be shielded from it. The treatment of it as forbidden and "adult" is part of why we have such an unhealthy societal relationship with nudity to begin with. It is why we have trouble separating nudity from sex.

Normalizing a taboo, even if completely logically supported, is always going to be difficult to accomplish. Public nudity is especially broad and emotionally charged. And the bridge from where we are to normalization is fairly long.

Doing hard things over long periods of time to be logically accommodating to lifestyles we don't really have much interest in ourselves is a bit of a stretch for our current society.

Hell, we can barely do things most people agree should be done right now.
