Lots of people would rather collect CERB (covid money) or unemployment benefits than get a job

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout 👏👏👏👏👌👍❤️

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I think they are too dumb to get that and will find a way to blame something else on it.
curiosi · 61-69, F
I don't dine out. I had no choice but to go to Wal-Mart today. What a mess!! Everything is in disarray and the few employees that are there are rude as hell! Don't care how important I think I need something not going back there!

Just got back from vacation.

Several had limited hours our limited menu due to staffing issues
DrWatson · 70-79, M
Yes. Not just closing early. In some cases, the restaurant did not reopen at all.
forty7seventy4 · 46-50, F
Yep, there was another on the news last night.
'He made his mark on this Earth with this tiny restaurant': Fat Tuesday closing after 12 years.
The Cajun restaurant on the south side of Des Moines is closing due to staffing shortages.
bowman81 · M
Like Dr. Watson observed, around here many restaurants and small shops closed, permanently. There is a large high end restaurant that closed 2 of their 5 restaurants permanently as well.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@bowman81 well I was talking about closing earlier in the day not permanently, even the more popular ones here.
Yeah, and not only restaurants. I remember how Walmart used to be open 24 hrs., before the pandemic.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@latinbutterfly well Walmart increased wages after being pressured to do so and by not having their overnight custodial and stocking employees working during the overnight shift they are saving $1 per hour for each and every overnight. But you won’t hear Walmart say that’s the reason why
FurryFace · 61-69, M
yeah banks too , since covid no ones making money except mandatory services
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
Some of the small restaurants
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TurtlePink It was a Braum’s here but they were still selling groceries so I got the milk I came in for. They just shut down their line for meals and ice cream. It was the one nearest the campus and the students return from the weekend on Sunday evenings and get groceries and grab a meal, so many college-aged students were walking in and turning around and leaving when I was there.

More like....due to Vaccine Mandates
Yes quite a few here.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
A Wendy's about 5 minutes from me used to close at 2:00 AM, but now they are closing at 10:00 PM due to only 2 employees working the night shift.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
Yes. One of the busiest restaurants in our small town was always open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They now close at 2 PM.
Barny52 · 56-60, M

Yes, but strangely in some areas new ones have opened, so there's a kind of balance here
Lilnonames · F
