@Nimbus no they do fun things sometimes just to get us to laugh I think. They offer these little fun classes they call “committees” for the students to pick from that are really fun. No grades but they have teachers sharing knowledge and guess which one the boy got this time? It is a Survival class. He is over-the-top excited about it. Had the first session yesterday and the teacher talked about what all they will be doing….Dutch oven cast-iron cooking (the teacher made a pineapple upside-down cake for them yesterday), how to make rocket stoves for cooking, how to make tools from what they gather, hopefully Winter camping, foraging for wild foods etc. The boy already ordered and got a survival kit with all kinds of little items to use for camping and brought it to show the group. He left his knife at home but the teacher said next time he could bring it and check it in with him before school starts and he would keep it for him till they had their Survival class. I haven’t seen this boy so excited about school for a really long time.
