Prematurely abandoning Bagram airport is a huge Biden error

Having one airport available make it easier to control for the Taliban and way worse for the poor Americans and Afghans that supported us still there.

I read a few fragments of reports about Bagram about the problems there. Like the security forces were pulled out first, and then it became impossible to rescue anyone else there because the airfield was longer secure.

@Heartlander There was nobody to rescue at Bagram after we left. There was nobody there at all. That's why the place got looted before the ANA (it still existed at that point!) chased the looters off.

@QuixoticSoul And of course you were there, and can attest to that, as you were the last one to leave, right, and no American citizens were within a hundred miles of the base?

@sunsporter1649 The story of what happened at Bagram is quite public, and actually fairly tragicomic. I'm sorry you weren't paying attention.

@QuixoticSoul And you believe everything that this screwed-up administration is spewing, right? But then again, being from california, the land of fruits and nuts, you would
@QuixoticSoul The reports I read were fragments, so I'm not sure how it all came down. Like mostly from people who had been there and were still pissed. Confusion and conflicting directives.

@sunsporter1649 The Bagram story didn't come from the administration, and is pretty funny.
So what is the funny story please? @QuixoticSoul
@QuixoticSoul

Normally, when one army departs a military installation there's a ceremonial transition. Is this true about abandonment in the dark of night?

If so, it would have required a bit of planning. Who gave the orders?

@jackjjackson The Afghan higher ups were told that we were leaving Bagram, but the government was so dysfunctional at that point that the news never filtered down to the locals patrolling outside the perimeter who were taken completely by surprise, and thought that the crowd of looters that descended on the base were Taliban at first.

@Heartlander The ceremony stuff happens when you give a shit - and we’re long past giving a shit about Afghanistan. Nobody felt like giving speeches.
