New mask mandates in the Bay Area

I can't say I'm a fan, after getting vaccinated I thought everything was over. But I guess I have to do my part to stop the spread of the new variant, as there are some people who refuse to be vaccinated
Look at the nazi tactics going to be put forth by Deblasio in NYC. Bullshit was a stop sign, this guy would be on every corner!

@soar2newhighs I am going to assume you don't have a "Nazi tactic" in mind about needing to provide proof of vaccine for "in door dining." When you use an analogy like that please keep in mind how fucking wrong you are. When there is a "Nazi tactic" I promise you, I'll let you know.

@soar2newhighs
You know if these vaccines were so effective, why are some who’ve been vaccinated getting covid again?
In my city we’ve had 1800 covid hospitalizations since December. Six were vaccinated. So yeah, they’re effective.
@QuixoticSoul Something else that doesn't get enough coverage is part of the reason the overall lower effectiveness rating of the J & J vaccine is because the study was done in areas with Delta variant outbreaks too. The earlier vaccines did their trials before that variant even showed up in the population in the US.

Ugh more brainwashing....brand new wave about to hit 🤷‍♀️

@InHeaven Brainwashing?
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
How could you have thought everything was over when there are still covid cases and new variants emerging that even the fully vaccinated can catch?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Jenny1234 Fully vaccinated people CAN spread COVID, although getting sick with is is not common. And even among those who do get sick with COVID despite vaccination, it's always very mild. About 160,000,000 Americans have been vaccinated as of a couple weeks ago, and of those people, only 4,500 have experienced severe symptoms of COVID. Less than 800 of them have died, and over 75% of the people who did die were over the age of 80.

That said, you can still carry COVID even if you're vaccinated, and masks do a good job of preventing an infected person from spreading it.

blame the virus
it wants too mutate and adapt to become more diverse
as we speak another one is adapting
it may hit us with ebola charlie 2022
don't blame people

Wearing a mask in the Bay Area will help cut down on smelling the stench while walking around outdoors when you are hop-scotching around piles of poo though, won’t it?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@whowasthatmaskedman Not my choice of vacation destination.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@cherokeepatti Its been a decade since I was last there. Then the biggest culture shock for me was the idea of people begging on every street corner.😷
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@whowasthatmaskedman Took a trip to California 3 summers ago and went on a long road trip, visited a lot of pretty places but not the Bay Area.

Some people I work with are anti vaccine 💉 and anti maskers 😷

Yet others who have followed the rules since day one have lost loved ones from Covid ~ the atmosphere isn’t cool at times because those who have lost loved ones wanna lynch those who don’t give af about anyone but themselves

The virus isn’t the biggest issue … people are
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
It is a little frustrating to still have to wear a mask even though I've been fully vaccinated for months now, but tbh I don't mind that much. I actually kinda like wearing a mask cos I think it makes me look cool. I've been doing it for years before coronavirus ever happened. I bought some really cool bandanas at a concert when I was in high school and I've been wearing them around my face as a fashion accessory for a long time.
HannahSky · F
Don't sweat it. It's for the best right now. The variant is a problem.
CrustyDDingus · 36-40, M
They got the vaccine from my sweatglands, you're welcome. 👀

Just because some have brought it with them while illegally crossing the border does not mean that more and more and more should continue to do the same. If they were crossing directly into Canada after bypassing thr US by air or sea that would would be fine with me. How about with you? @whowasthatmaskedman
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@jackjjackson We can debate this on two fronts. First being what is right and proper in principle. The second being what actually happens in the real world.
Now you can have all the principles you want. But a Virus doesnt obey principles. Its mission in life it to spread, no questions asked. It doesnt care.
So you have to deal with it on its terms. I admit to having the luxury of not being in a country that has no land borders and thats probably saved us. But equally whenoutbreaks have happened between states, the state border has been closed and testing , travel permits and quarantine measures have been inforced. Right now , if I leave my state, I cant return without 14 days quarantine. And we are fully vaccinated.
In the end, vaccination has to be the key. Anyone who chooses not to is playing Russian Roulette. And people who do that willingly are insane.😷
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Nothing to debate regarding the sensibility and duty to one’s fellow humans of vaccinations. Nice to see you’re on the right side of history. @whowasthatmaskedman

You have the following strains to look forward to: Zeta, eta, theta, lota, kappa, lambda, mu, nu, Ksi, omicron, pi, rho, sigma, tau, upsilon,
Phi, chi, psi, omega
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@pianoplayingsteve They could have given them human names like they do hurricanes.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@cherokeepatti Maybe not. My wife gets offended enough when a Hurricane gets named after her. She would go @pe$h*t if it was a Virus..😷
