@soar2newhighs Stop spazzing out about basic health measures. There are something like 140k morons in my city who refuse to get vaccinated, and the local government is trying to keep them alive. If wearing masks helps - well, I’m ok with it. At most, it’s kind of annoying.

@QuixoticSoul I used to hang out in prepper spaces because I believe in being prepared and live in a flood plain. But it was always fun to watch the groups from the US right wing. All these self proclaimed badasses in camo claiming they are hard as fuck. 2 months into the pandemic they were losing their shit over a piece of fabric and not being able to get a hair cut. Pretty hilarious.

@Human1000 @Human1000 It’s not about masks. It’s about coercion by a government that says if you don’t comply with our mandate we’ll restrict your freedoms and activities under the guise of stopping covid.

@soar2newhighs A vaccine mandate is not unreasonable in NYC. It is a global hub, a former hot zone and in the US it could very well be necessary at this point after about a year of not taking the pandemic seriously so now harsher measures are required to try and stop more mutations that could potentially put us back at square one.

@soar2newhighs DeBlasio is running the most densely populated city in America, where we had to bury Americans in mass graves last year. He’s doing the right thing with his vaccine mandate and I hope our mayor (who is running the second most densely populated city that has thankfully handled covid very well) follows suit.

Most of our bars are already mandating vaccination for entry even without her say so.

You have the right to choose but you don't have a right to not have any consequences for your choices.

Your rights also stop when you become a danger to the public.

"my feelings are hurt." is not a valid reason to make bad policy decisions.

There is no realistic way to not mandate it somewhere like NYC. When you have an international hub and it is a major health crisis unless you want to start the global pandemic all over again letting people be a special snowflake is not a reason to make bad and dangerous policies.

And yes it is my right to choose NOT to be vaccinated.
Can you prove those who choose to not be vaccinated are a health risk? Like I said the vaccines don’t always stop the virus, do they?

@soar2newhighs And clearly you need a very basic course on how vaccines work. Whether they are 100% effective at preventing you from getting it is actually irrelevant. The more likely it is the better but that is not actually the point. The point is to make it so if you do get it you won't need hospitalization or die. And right now the only people dying are the people who are not fully vaccinated. That is not an accident.


Again, your choices end the minute you become a public safety hazard.


And yes, we have literally over a year's worth of data proving unvaccinated people are a health risk. You think the lockdowns and quarantines last year were for giggles? And again you don't understand how vaccines work.

In my city we’ve had 1800 covid hospitalizations since December. Six were vaccinated. So yeah, they’re effective.
