I can look for some of his books. I am reading a series by David Eddings called Belgarion now, it is a lot of books so is taking a lot of time but i like it.
those are good books and are very much of the same style as other fantasy novels ranging from Lord of the Rings to Game of Thrones.
Murakami is very different. his stories are all set in the real world and are real stories of real people. however, there is always a subtle twist (sometimes not so subtle) which gives us, the readers, this sense of fantasy.
when i read your story about the otters, the first thing i thought of was Murakami. in his hands however, we would have been left wondering if the girl was human and dreamt of being an otter.
btw, that's not a criticism of your writing. i'm just trying to illustrate Murakami and why i recommended him to you.
oh that sounds interesting, i am always trying to think of ways to twist my stories, but i do not want them to be too long or left hanging, unfinished.
I am working on something now, I was going to make it another short but then I thought of a twist so kept going and now it is on chapter 3 with lots to go. So it might end up like that if I can stop editing it lol.
