I'd venture to guess most would be great citizens..... IF they came legally. Thinking they can storm the gate and just be forgiven is a deal breaker for me. They're looking for opportunity. I get that. But if you aren't willing to be legal from day one, why would we want you here? We don't.
@MasterLee There is a big market for social security #s and identities that they can use to apply for benefits now. Someone who lived in my city had a cell phone & pager business about 20 years ago and he got later selling lists of people’s ss#and other information. I think he might be in federal prison now, haven’t heard from anyone who knows him for quite a while so I don’t know.
If I lived in Guatemala I'd try to leave too. 🤷🏻♀️ I believe in 100% open borders. We should all be able to reside wherever we wish as long as we abide by the laws. No years-long process to become a citizen, no red tape. Just move and set up house and live.

What never ceases to amaze me that the way to stop illegal immigration is to stop the black market economy with its exploitation and tax avoidance. But the media and political class demonize the immigrants not the people who illegally employ them or the consumers who want cheap food and products so buy from the companies breaking the laws.
@SW-User Could be part of it but it’s not nearly all of it. I’ve heard some say they were working 2 or 3 cash jobs, especially construction or landscaping etc.

To me the employers in those situations are the ones to target to stamp it out
America needs to investigate why so many people feel the need to flee their country and try to solve that problem. They may be running for their lives from evil dictators and/or gangs.
There is an ongoing crisis in Central America, no jobs violent gangs, collapsed governments. People are fleeing the region and becoming refugees. The United Nations should step in.
