incredible how online reviews have affected our way of consuming

when choosing a hotel or restaurant or booking some activity during trips I always spend hours reading comments. you can't trust what one person says but you can take into consideration the specific reasons for their like or dislike and certainly when 50 others say the same thing it become necessary to seriously consider their opinion.

Yea problem is with this is nowadays, businesses ASK for reviews in exchange for free/discounted services. Harder to trust reviews

@iamnikki I'm not super well versed in the ways of online shopping, I didn't even know this kind of practice you're describing existed, I just compare it to before online reviews and I think "wow, this is awesome". my first travels were way harder: no google translate, no reviews of hotels and restaurants, no downloadable maps, online reservations, posting pictures, video-chat with family. I'm just amazed.

@reflectingmonkey I couldn't imagine trying to navigate things without internet.

@iamnikki True. I hate that business give freebie and cupons for reviews. I can remember when I started college and took a trip I thought we were cutting edge because we could print maps off of mapquest before going somewhere.
GPS in your car was super expensive when it first came out lol.
Oh man

@REMsleep oh wow. I'm glad it's not expensive now. I wouldn't be able to get from point a to point b lol. I'd be stranded I'm sure
