incredible how online reviews have affected our way of consuming

when choosing a hotel or restaurant or booking some activity during trips I always spend hours reading comments. you can't trust what one person says but you can take into consideration the specific reasons for their like or dislike and certainly when 50 others say the same thing it become necessary to seriously consider their opinion.

I once went to the doctor from hell. I wrote a bad review and while there was surprised to see so many accolades. My review didn't stay up long and more shining reviews were added.

@curiosi True. Once I was at a burger king and the waitress stood beside me and made sure I checked "excellent" for all questions. If I ever wanted to check "good" or "average" she would make me uncomfortable and persuade me to check excellent. I was too shy to resist. 😐 but damn that was so rude.

This is just what i do. I check a lot of reviews and take the average. You can usually tell if there's a couple of really bad ones that they were just unlucky. If there's an underlying issue it usually come through on many reviews.

It's important to know what to expect when you are traveling. I used to enjoy watching shows like Hotel Impossible, and Restaurant Impossible. In one Hotel Impossible show, the hotel owner would argue online in the review section with every single person who left a bad review but never tried to fix the problems. Classic case of denial.

Yes, I find it very helpful.

Yea problem is with this is nowadays, businesses ASK for reviews in exchange for free/discounted services. Harder to trust reviews
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@reflectingmonkey I couldn't imagine trying to navigate things without internet.

@iamnikki True. I hate that business give freebie and cupons for reviews. I can remember when I started college and took a trip I thought we were cutting edge because we could print maps off of mapquest before going somewhere.
GPS in your car was super expensive when it first came out lol.
Oh man
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@REMsleep oh wow. I'm glad it's not expensive now. I wouldn't be able to get from point a to point b lol. I'd be stranded I'm sure

True. I also read reviews when I'm bored hahaha they're so funny.
I've learnt to Wing it, and wait till I get there - seeing is believing - and serendipity helps - chance can be a wonderful thing 😊
