In the USA, it's probably because they are not sick, and can't imagine becoming sick.
But I do feel as though all people who are concerned about their own health, or the health of family members with pre-existing conditions should not cluster together indoors, and they should socially distance and wear masks.
In some cases, I think we are seeing a limit to tolerance of confinement, and a limit to patience...and/or intense horniness...😉

@Abstraction Oh, I heard that...on the news. Unfortunately, we just can't make stupids who think they know everything believe that they, themselves...are not immortal.

For us introverts who must 'turn on' appropriate extroversion when necessary for society's sake, we have no problem with social distancing and remaining indoors. But I think I speak for many an introvert when I say we're having quite the time observing extroverts exhibit serious behavioral problems making their own adjustments - if at all.

@DudeistPriest I tend to be a bit introverted now, since my divorce, and since my good friend is at risk after chemotherapy. But I am not eating popcorn or enjoying any part of the show.
This is a real threat, and I hope people will not get sick, even if they ARE stupid.

People focus on cherry picked information that supports what they want to believe. So they become complacent and take a chance.

They're selfish. They need to experience the virus first hand to relate. Secondhand stories aren't cutting it. Which means a lot more people will die.

Because they want to pretend things are back to normal, or that this is a “hoax” and simply “deep state” trying to restrict their personal freedom. All kinds of irrational conspiracy theories and there are any number of people selling such misinformation to the gullible. A little bit of information is dangerous and some people have latched onto the idea of “herd immunity”, taking things into their own hands by holding “Covid parties” or gatherings to deliberately infect each other.
It’s both ridiculous and tragic.
