Dogs and birds

A dog. Because it's my favorite of the few that are actually acclimated to living alongside humans.

All the other suggestions so far sound fun to the imagination but realistically (barring the power of speech of course) they would result in those animals telling you how much they hate you, your home, and how badly they wish you would bring them back to where they belong.

I love animals in general but I'd probably choose a dog first.
