Who else here remembers Experience Project?

10 years ago I found experience project and it actually changed my life. I think they said they shut it down because it just became too much to manage for the owner.. crazy that similar worlds came out of that (like way after they shut down EP)... I’m so glad that SW is here now but am just reminiscing how it all started with EP.. I don’t think I have any of my original friends. I did have the same screen now here on SW as I did EP,. Anyway.. fun times and potato salad right? Share with me how SW has changed your life!

I was in an abusive relationship and ep was my secret social life at the time. I met someone who cared about me and it gave me the strength to leave and start over.

@KuroNeko That's good to hear about.
@KuroNeko Ditto!

I discovered that I was slowly being disected!

It was talking with others, and getting close to someone, that gave me the perspective and strength to move forward!

Made me remember that I was worthy, made me see the stamina, determination that I did have.
And interestingly enough - made me see how scared and intimidated my then partner was, of any other human influence in my life.
Made me see I was the foundation and glue to the family we had. He was just the polish.

Makes me mad here now - all the stupid, expereince limited little 20 something shits that come here to troll and argue - becuase they are starved of imagination, creativity and personal zest.

They have to suck it out of others becuase they can't handle being stimulus deprived.

This place was built to replace EP, which was built for socially deprived people, especially tje disabled.

It too was ruined by the ' entitled' bored little wanna bees.

Funny how the world rotates 🤷‍♀️

@OogieBoogie If there is one thing you can rely on, it's that life will kick the shit out of everyone. I do believe that's why we come here, that's after all, how we learn and grow. So, with the knowledge of that, we don't need to worry about the newborns who don't have the life experience yet to have taught them any empathy. They'll get their's.

When on member of EP murdered another, and police wanted to see their PMs,etc EP realized they could no longer live up to their promise of keeping the site anonymous....I think the founder was bored at the end.
SW has taught me you can't go back,as Thomas Wolfe observed

Well,

I've had three lovers

And two best friends

I've loved someone who died

I was supported during the breakdown of my marriage

I've been to Perth to swim with seals

I've set off a turf war over a lothario

I've publicly fallen in love and out (hi Anthony!)

I've saved lives and had mine saved

I've been moved, inspired and tormented

I've been visited by a bff who chose to get married in my home city under the harbour bridge

I have met the most wonderful man in the world and our adventure together has only just begun

But he's met my family...

😁😂😅

Ps just in case anyone thinks I've been too greedy, I just seem to connect well when people are talking about real things.

It changed mine because I can relate to everything, share my stories that I've never shown to other people before, giving advice to people as well as receiving them, have honest opinions, bringing out more confidence to avoid trash talkers and bigots, and many more. EP was my original home of everything as I had many friends there and dated a few girls back then. SW is another leap for me and it still makes me the man I am.

I'm glad you have time for this because many people don't. 👍

I'm a couple of days late, but I wanted to throw in my piece, I joined it about 8 or nine years ago I think, going through an iffy point in life and some of the community aspects and people I met really left an impact on me. I haven't heard from anyone I knew from that time in years, but I'm really hoping that they are all doing well. But fun times and potato salad (is that a real phrase or did you invent it? haha)

I was on EP still have a couple of friends from there

I think someone pushed someone else to commit suicide and the lawsuits and moderating/filters ended EP's life

SW keeps me company when I'm in pain or when I have time to spare, well waste is the more truthful word
Ingwe · F
at the end you could not even use the word "wife"
@Ingwe that's what I heard

It really was a lot to manage, just think about it you can get subpoenas from any agency in the entire world, you can't just ignore them and have to find a way to process them and find out if they are legit then respond to them. Unless you don't care about your privacy promises then you can just throw everyone's data out there without verifying anything.

I liked that it was a good help site and catered to longer forms of communication than a few characters on a phone app.

I absolutely loved EP but it deteriorated in quality towards the end as it became filled with stupid crap
There were so many ridiculous changes too that I felt the owners were mind fukking with us on purpose. In fact they were selling data to companies.
I do not know why it ended. As with most things, there is the official reason and a more hidden one.

Met many good people there :)

I really liked EP. It help me in make ways. It certainly helped me like myself for how I was and realize I was not the only person in the world that felt the way I did. When I found SW I was very happy and have managed to reconnect with a few folks from EP.

I was on EP
CarolineAS · 46-50, T
Yes I loved it
Driver2 · M
Yes I remember it too especially 2010

I think it was too much for them to handle lots of predators there. Too many victims and way too many fakes
PeterJ · 51-55, M
Was on EP too and now here for a long time. Don't know that either changed anything for me but it has been an outlet for sure.
I was only on EP for the final few months, but it was amazing.
It was fun, chaotic, full of drama and never boring.

I like being able to share on here

It shut down due to the heavy burden of legal issues.
Shame really.
