Why is breastfeeding such a big deal?

Some woman (like me) can’t pump. Some babies refuse to be covered, eating in a bathroom is gross. you barely see anything like why do you care

Because people, especially in America, are stupid.

A woman's body has been remanded to becoming a shameful thing and her breasts are classified in the common parlance as sex objects. The natural beauty of nourishing a child, no matter where, has been subverted into the vulgar and it is a shame.

Time to pull our collective heads out of the sand, America! Or in some cases, out of your asses!

I don't care a bit and in fact encourage any nursing mom to not cover or hide. Breasts are for feeding babies.

@cherokeepatti A bit of a funny story but after the birth of our first child Dear Wife and I were invited out to dine at the fanciest restaurant in town by my parents. Of course we had to take the baby for them to show off their new grandson. Between the time we ordered and the food arrived young son decided he was hungry and so Dear Wife carefully draped herself and let the baby suckle. The owner of the restaurant came by and yanked the cover off Dear Wife and baby saying "let's see the little one. Dear Wife had exposed both breasts as she nursed and was caught completely unaware that she would suddenly be exposed that way in front of her inlaws.

Breast milk has immune properties for the baby that they haven’t developed yet. And some babies cannot tolerate any type of baby formula and usually end up on goat’s milk, that is expensive. I knew a woman who bought a goat and milked it rather than trying breastfeeding because she had some kind of shame about using her breasts to feed her baby. She’d get up and milk the goat twice a day & have to care for it in addition to taking care of her baby and other child.

Babies should be fed when they are hungry. Period. If people can't handle it, that is their problem, not yours.

Because it isn't enough that a woman gives birth to feel 100% like a woman - she also has to be a feeding source - then she is considered complete. Men, just want a pizza and the remote control.

It’s a luxury complaint. When your life is so simple you have the ability to be upset over tiny insignificant things like people feeding their hungry baby in view of them.

Sooo many people don’t know how to react when breasts are in a non-sexual context so they assume it’s because of the breastfeeding, not their own hang ups.

It's not an issue in itself and most people just don't care. I've seen it many times and nobody cared.

What is occasionally a problem is when a mother chooses the least convenient place possible, like sitting on the floor in the middle of the aisle of a store and then complaining when she gets asked to move a matter of a few metres to a dedicated feeding area. This has happened here and makes no fucking sense.

Walmart is weird LOL. I have a service dog and watching all the people bringing their damn pets into the store floors me. Oh yeah it’s a service dog that inviting everybody and trying to attack them LOL
