I am a Nebraska born girl...spent every summer on my Grandfather's farm. The country is almost the same...flat...and you know when the twisters are coming because the sky turns that weird green color...and then you can see black sky in the distance.

I used to spot the funnels, and used to warn the family. Most of them didn't touch down...but if there was a warning on the radio we all got in my grandfather's car and drove down inside the potato cellar.

@4meAndyou That green sky is kinda terrifying, but oddly pretty at the same time.

I was born and raised in Joplin, and currently half an hour from there. We went through after that massive tornado and it was crazy not knowing where I was in a city i knew like the back of my hand. All my landmarks were just gone. I love storms, but that was terrifying.

@SarahAndSamantha Before I was old enough to remember, my Aunt's house was leveled by a tornado. She was able to get to a neighbor's house and shelter in their basement...otherwise they would all have died.
