Is this virus really bad?

Yes. It attacks the respiratory system. It is not the flu. The flu doesnt immediately attack the lungs. It only travels there if cases are severe ,and it turns into pneumonia. This one has a much higher mortality rate. And we are not prepared to deal with it .we do not have the proper medication for treatment and prevention. And we can only know so much in a few months of dealing with it. With limited resources.

If you look at the volume of case statistics and death rates by country (and those are probably understated for a variety of reasons) it's about as bad as it can be, justifying the "pandemic" title.

If you listen to the people who have had it describe it and what they went through to recover, it doesn't sound like something anyone with sanity would want.

It really is that bad.

to date (07 march 2020 1700 UTC)

total confirmed infections 1,381,014
total deaths: 78,269
total recovered 292,973

so about 1 million people currently from a virus that did not even exist 6 months ago... I reckon thats pretty bad as a virus would be

@Tracos not truly I think the earth should be less populated
Carver · 31-35, F
To the typical everyday individual with a healthy immune system, I don't believe it's anymore dangerous than the flu. I think how society is reacting to it has been much more harmful than the actual virus.
Wol62 · 51-55, M
Yes, please follow government advice and stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.

@Wol62Thousands of people have died ( some of them perfectly healthy) and people are still asking is it that bad . 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️
Wol62 · 51-55, M
@SW-User Yes, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
SW-User
@Wol62 😬😬
Other than a war, have you seen anything else hurt the world this much in recent time?

MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@imo21169 it hasn't, it's worse than the flu
@imo21169 The flu has never ruined economies, stopped world travel and overwhelmed hospitals. It’s a killer but not in this league
SW-User
It has killed tens of thousands of people. To be able to say it is not bad is a privilege.
SW-User
Not to mention quite a few were perfectly healthy when they got it @SW-User
Rambler · M
For some patients not too bad, for some patients fatal. So yes.
Pfuzylogic · M
People are dying really bad because they can’t get away from each other.
The only reason this hasn’t killed millions already is because we are doing what we are told and staying separate from each other.
It isn’t that complicated.
imo21169 · 41-45, F
@Pfuzylogic but they dont listen? Or is it a plague amongst black people?
Pfuzylogic · M
@imo21169
I hope you are listening.
What does black have to do with anything dear? Hasn’t anyone explained this to you?

@Benjr134 I say that 🤷🏻‍♀️
jackson55 · M
@Benjr134 It’s not that bad. 650’000 die from the common flu every year world wide.
Magenta · F
@jackson55 Not to mention the millions of deaths from heart disease, stroke and cancer every single year. The bigger picture.

@SW-User sad but true. 😞
SW-User
Its bad because people are willing to buy anything their TV tells them and follow directions blindly. If they are told " kill your baby cause he has covid...". THEY . WILL.
SW-User
It's only as bad as they make it on the news and tell*a*vision
Frank52 · 70-79, M
@SW-User Has Alex Jones changed sex?
SW-User
@Frank52 I have no idea. Why don't you find out and tell us
Magenta · F
It's not good, but I think the way it is being reacted to is bad. They've gone too far with the control. Now it's as if they think we don't know how to live or manage our lives. Everywhere you turn someone is dictating how to exercise and spend our time.

What happens when the next one comes or the next one? Can't shut down the world every time.
Frank52 · 70-79, M
@Magenta
Now it's as if they think we don't know how to live or manage our lives.

That's exactly right. Many don't know how to manage their lives in the midst of a highly contagious, incurable and untreatable viral pandemic. Which is why, to save lives and not overwhelm health services, government has taken to restricting by law.
@Magenta People are selfish, so restrictions are put in place. Even then people still try to break the rules because selfishness has no limit. Sad that it's all about me yet not too long ago people had to serve their country. Now sitting at home is too hard

Well 5 to 6 thousand a day dying at the moment and no cure in sight. Is that serious ??
Is the sky blue?

It's bad but people do like to exaggerate too.

One of the worst days for china still didn't even remotely surpass the deaths on that exact same day world wide from other causes -
