Addiction is like being possessed. So one never knows how the possessed will react. As long as the love does not conflict with the spirit that has possessed, all will be smooth... but when there is a conflict, the love will be the first thing that is thrashed to the ground..
It is always the glass that feeds the spirit that suffers the consequence.

Yes. They just have trouble in expressing it.

Addiction is the primary driver for an addict. Everything else is secondary when the demons come calling. In the quiet moments where there is no distraction they will feel real emotions, often mostly guilt, but then the demons call again.

Unfortunately, the love of the addiction may be stronger and more powerful than the love of others :(

An addict can love another. But an addict always loves their addiction the most.

Oh please. That doesn’t change anything. Drink up!

@ChrisNBillings seriously I’m questioning this. Been around addicts my entire life, and now I’m fucking one and he’s transparent about his demons. We have a good friendship, and now I’m freaking the fuck out because I like drinking with him and I love him but said fuck it to all others with addiction. They weren’t intellectual enough.

Of course they can feel love. Often the “self-medication” is about trying not to feel things so intensely.
