I mean Sonic could homing-dash Mario into oblivion perhaps or just use his speed and quickly pummel mario....

While if we were to base this on power-ups, Mario could eat one of the big tan mushrooms and grow huge and crush Sonic like a bug...

Sonic has skills that Mario can only wish he had.
