What’s a wise piece of advice for anyone?

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
If you loan anyone $ and expect to be repaid get it in writing, even if it is a smaller amount. Because for some reason people will promise to pay back by a certain time & then put off the payments & eventually say it was a gift if you don’t.

@LukeTheDuke Drifters, scum, and losers, usually. I expected things like that from the people who lived at the homeless shelter where I worked...but I never expected it from a co-worker.
Good for you getting the money back from the devious so and so. @cherokeepatti

@LukeTheDuke I didn’t feel obligated to keep my side of the promise after she failed to keep hers. When she said she’d pay the next payday I expected that. We all figured out she didn’t want to be exposed & every time we shamed her she would pay back some of the money.

When in doubt, ask random strangers for advice.
Maybe for some problems, but not all problems. @MarkPaul
Sapio · 46-50, M
1) You're safer telling a complete stranger your problems than someone you know.

2) Nobody will envy you more and be as spiteful as your closest friend. Keep them close but not close enough to hurt you.
Yes and yes. @Sapio
repeat the good things that happen in your life, so that they become memories. that way you have more positive memories in your head then bad ones.

Don’t sweat the small stuff
Yes indeed. @ButterRobot
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
@ButterRobot That would have been terrible advice for me....the small details need someone to sweat over them, or everything falls apart.
ButterRobot · 51-55, M
@DragonFruit that’s not really how I interpret it. It’s more like don’t stress if your coffee is a bit cold.

"You should always count some shit is going to happen as well"
Sad but true. @Melpomene

Don't bother chasing someone who doesn't want you.
Generally yes. But some people can start out as initially uninterested and then warm to you. But generally it is better to go for people who show a clear mutual interest. @latinbutterfly
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Don't sweat the petty stuff. Don't pet the sweaty stuff.
