Unfortunately what you described is an outdated old fashioned "ideal" for a good/happy relationship and marriage. There are still a lot of people who hold onto this concept. It should be an equal partnership, give and take on both sides...because they WANT to out of love and respect, not because of some expected dictate of "roles".

I watched my mother do that and decided that marriage was a partnership. So I helped when I could and did a lot for my first wife. The narcissist took over and made my life hell. But your not the glue or duct tape. Your needs have to be met too!

If you find the right man, you have a partnership where both of you contribute to running the household, raising the children and earning a living to fund it all. No one person is stuck with a gender-specific set of chores unless that’s how they both want things.
